The Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) has approved a curriculum modification for our pre-licensure program beginning Fall 2022. The curriculum provides education in organization and systems leadership, quality improvement and safety, integration of scholarship into practice, health policy and advocacy, health promotion and disease prevention for improving patient and population outcomes, and a master’s level of nursing practice. The MEPN program is a two-year commitment and prepares graduates for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Additionally, the MEPN boasts a concentration in Community and Population Health Nursing (CPHN) preparing graduates to lead interprofessional health care teams that advocate for the expansion of health care opportunities to under-served populations. The small MEPN cohorts also have the opportunity to learn alongside our undergraduate prelicensure students and graduate students in other health-related professional programs in certain courses in mixed learning communities. MEPN students achieve competencies in research and utilize scholarly evidence in the design, delivery, evaluation, and improvement of health care. MEPN is designed for applicants who already have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree, but would like to pursue an accelerated graduate-level program that covers the foundation of nursing practice. Our Master’s Entry Program in Nursing (MEPN) is a two-year, full-time master’s degree program that provides students with the education, training, and clinical hours needed to become Registered Nurses.
